Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has not played a game with the Original Six club since their Feb. 8 matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights. This is because the Bruins star blueliner suffered a serious AC joint shoulder injury and infection during the 4 Nations Face-Off.
McAvoy recently returned to practice on March 25 in a non-contact jersey. Now, he has taken another notable step forward in his injury recovery, as he was in a regular, full-contact jersey during the Bruins' March 31 practice.
McAvoy being a full participant at practice is undoubtedly a significant step in the right direction. This shows that No. 73 is continuing to progress with his recovery, which is excellent news.
However, this does not mean that McAvoy is returning to the Bruins' lineup immediately. While speaking to reporters, including WEEI's Scott McLaughlin, Bruins interim head coach Joe Sacco noted that a timeline for McAvoy getting back in the lineup has still not been determined.
While McAvoy is not set to return to Boston's lineup just yet, it is clear that he is improving. Here's to hoping that 2016 first-round pick suffers no setbacks with his recovery from here.
