Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo is a player to watch over the next few days. The 6-foot-5 blueliner is one of the most-talked-about Bruins in the rumor mill right now as the Original Six club continues to struggle.
Interest in Carlo's services appears to be picking up with the deadline rapidly approaching, too. According to The Fourth Period, the Calgary Flames and Winnipeg Jets are two clubs linked to the right-shot defenseman.
This is not the only time Carlo has been connected to the Flames. Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco also recently reported that the Pacific Division club has expressed interest in the Bruins' stay-at-home defenseman.
The Flames wanting to add a defenseman like Carlo is understandable. They have undoubtedly missed shutdown blueliner Chris Tanev since they traded him last season, and Carlo would finally give them a proper replacement for him in their top four. In addition, he would provide the Flames' blueline with a boost as they look to earn a playoff spot. The retooling Flames also probably like that Carlo is signed until the end of 2026-27, as he would be more than a rental.
The Jets also make sense as a suitor for Carlo, though. They are in a prime position to make a splash, as they are at the top of the NHL standings. The right side of their defense could use a jolt, and acquiring Carlo would give it that.
When taking a gander at the Jets' lineup, Carlo could be a solid fit on their second pairing with Dylan Samberg. In addition, he would also be another great option for the Jets' penalty kill if acquired.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what the Bruins decide to do with Carlo from here. With Carlo being a big, right-shot defenseman who plays top-four minutes, several more teams should be interested in the Colorado native over the next few days.
