The Boston Bruins are preparing for what should be an eventful trade deadline. With the Original Six club performing below expectations this season and not holding a playoff spot, changes to their roster could be imminent.

One player who has been in the rumor mill over the last month is defenseman Brandon Carlo. Now, a new team is reportedly generating interest in the right-shot blueliner. According to Daily Faceoff's Anthony Di Marco, the Calgary Flames have inquired about Carlo.

"Sounds like the Flames have reached out on Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo," Di Marco reported on X. "Teams have yet to dive into details, but CGY is interested."

Hearing that the Flames are interested in Carlo is not particularly surprising. They are currently in the playoff race in the Western Conference and could undoubtedly use a top-four shutdown defenseman for their right side. Acquiring Carlo would give them just that. In addition, the fact that Carlo is signed until the end of the 2026-27 is another likely reason why the retooling Flames are interested.

With Carlo having multiple years left on his contract and being a key part of the Bruins' blueline, they would expect a significant return in any move centering around the 2015 second-round pick. This is especially so when noting that big right-shot defenseman who can handle plenty of minutes are hard to come by.

We will need to wait and see if the Flames' interest in Carlo leads to the Bruins trading him from here.
