The NHL trade deadline is just four days away, so things are about to get busy. The Boston Bruins will need to be watched closely during this week. At the time of this writing, the Bruins do not hold a playoff spot, and the expectation is that they will make changes to their group because of it.

One of the Bruins' top trade candidates heading into the deadline is pending unrestricted free agent Trent Frederic. The 2016 first-round pick has created chatter in the rumor mill all season, and now there has been a new update regarding him.

In the latest episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman made it clear that he expects Frederic to be traded by the March 7 deadline.

"Yeah, I think Frederic does get moved," Friedman said. "Even though he's hurt, it's not something that's going to prevent him from playing when it matters, so I think he gets moved. No question about it."

With the Bruins not holding a playoff spot and Frederic without a contract extension, it is understandable that a trade is likely. The St. Louis, Missouri native has the potential to be a solid bottom-six addition to a contender's roster because of his gritty style of play and toughness. Thus, he could be a decent trade chip for the Bruins.

Teams also could be interested in Frederic because of his past offensive success. While he has underperformed this season, he set career highs with 18 goals, 22 assists, and 40 points in 82 games last season with the Bruins. Thus, he can be a decent secondary scorer when playing at his best.

We will need to wait and see what happens with Frederic from here, but the possibility of a trade looks incredibly high.
