A clear message was sent to this Bruins forward from head coach Jim Montgomery.

On Monday (Nov. 11), the Boston Bruins made a major roster move, assigning Matthew Poitras to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
While speaking to reporters, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery sent Poitras a clear message about what he wants to see the young forward improve on. Here is what the Bruins' bench boss said on the matter:
"More of an impact in the game. Making more plays, understanding our structure."
Poitras' assignment to the AHL came after he scored one goal in his last seven games. In 14 games this season with the Bruins, he has one goal, three assists, and a minus-4 rating.

Poitras will now look to make a significant impact down in Providence. If he performs well in the AHL, getting called back up to the Bruins' NHL roster should not take too long.
