The Bruins' poor start to the season is undoubtedly making Jim Montgomery's seat hotter.
Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Boston Bruins were once again expected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. This was especially so after they big splashes in free agency, signing Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov.
However, the Bruins have been far from that early on. They have a 4-6-1 record and have lost five out of their last six games, including a brutal 8-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in their most recent contest.
With the Bruins underperforming in every single area early on, head coach Jim Montgomery's seat is undoubtedly getting hotter. If the Bruins do not improve quickly, the possibility of Montgomery being let go by the Bruins cannot be ignored.
Montgomery is not the sole reason for the Bruins' struggles this season. As head coach, he did not build the club's current roster. However, with how often coaching changes occur, it is fair to wonder what will happen with Montgomery if the Bruins continue to play poorly.
While the season is still young, and the Bruins have time to turn things around, the clock is ticking. American Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and teams in playoff spots at that juncture of the campaign often end up making it. At this time, Boston the Bruins are at the bottom of the Atlantic Division.
It will be fascinating to see if Montgomery can help the Bruins get things back on track. If he does, it will lower the hot-seat talk surrounding him.
