Changes could be coming to Boston.
Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic is one of the club's top trade candidates heading into the 2025 NHL trade deadline. With the Bruins struggling and expected to sell off some pieces at the deadline, it is certainly possible that Frederic, who is a pending unrestricted free agent, will be dealt.
In a recent episode of 32 Thoughts: The Podcast, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that "noise" is starting to pick up regarding Frederic.
"I've started hearing a bit more Trent Frederic noise," Friedman said. "I think they're going through their options there. That's definitely going on."
With the March 7 deadline rapidly approaching and Frederic not having an extension, it is understandable that the Bruins are exploring their options with No. 11. This is especially so when general manager Don Sweeney told reporters on Feb. 23 that the club is "unlikely to move forward with things" when it comes to extension talks with their UFAs besides captain Brad Marchand.
As we approach the deadline, Frederic should continue to generate interest around the league. Contenders love hard-nosed players for the post-season, and Frederic is just that.
In 56 games this season, Frederic has eight goals, seven points, 152 hits, and a minus-14 rating. While it has been a rough season for Frederic offensively, he showed last campaign that he has the potential to produce solid secondary scoring, as his 18 goals and 40 points in 82 games show. This also adds to his appeal.
