This Boston Bruins goalie may have an important role with the Original Six club.

With training camp here, Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains a restricted free agent. There is plenty of concern among Bruins fans, as if things don't change soon, the Original Six club could start the regular season without their star between the pipes. After trading Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators during the summer, this would put the Bruins in a very challenging spot to start the year.
The Bruins' regular season opener is on Oct. 8 against the Florida Panthers, so they thankfully still have some time to get Swayman signed to his next contract. However, if they don't finalize a new deal with Swayman by then, this would open the door for Bruins top goalie prospect Brandon Bussi to form a tandem with Joonas Korpisalo on the NHL roster.
Bussi, 26, has become a solid part of the Bruins' prospect pool over the last few years. During this past season with the Providence Bruins, the Sound Beach, New York native posted a 23-10-5 record, a 2.67 goals-against average (GAA), and a .913 save percentage (SV%). This was after he had a 22-5-4 record, a .924 SV%, and a 2.40 GAA in 32 games for Providence in 2022-23.

Due to his impressive play over the last few seasons with Providence, Bussi has created some excitement among Bruins fans. Now, with Swayman currently unsigned, the possibility of Bussi making the jump this year to the NHL is certainly there. It will be intriguing to see what happens with the promising prospect from here.
