The Hockey News' Emma Lingan and Michael Augello break down the latest Brad Marchand buzz.

Things are ugly for the Boston Bruins in every way possible. They aren't producing offense, they are lacking discipline, and their goaltending has been shaky. Due to this, they have a 4-6-1 record to start the campaign.

With the Bruins struggling so mightily, it would not be particularly surprising if we see them recall at least one of their AHL players in the near future. Let's discuss three potential options now.

    Fabian Lysell

Fabian Lysell's start to the season with the Providence Bruins has been underwhelming. In seven games, he has just one goal and one assist. However, with the Bruins getting such little offense and having a clear hole at the second-line right wing position, it may not be the worst idea to give Lysell a look.

Lysell is a former first-round pick who undoubtedly has skill, as evidenced by his 15 goals and 50 points in 56 games with Providence last season. Thus, what would be the harm in giving him a shot at the NHL level?

    Georgii Merkulov

Georgii Merkulov is another intriguing prospect who the Bruins could consider calling up. He is off to a decent start with Providence this year, posting four assists in his first seven games. However, he was excellent for them in 2023-24, as he had 30 goals and 65 points in 67 games.

The Bruins' centers are not producing much, so giving Merkulov a chance in the middle six could be worth trying.

    Riley Duran

During training camp, Riley Duran created some excitement because of his high-energy style of play. With the Bruins being lifeless right now, Duran could be a solid prospect to take a look at in a bottom-six role.

Duran is off to a slow start offensively for Providence this year, as he has one assist in six games. However, his tenacity and good upside could allow him to provide a much-needed boost to Boston's lineup if called up.
