The 2025 NHL Entry Draft begins on June 27, so it is rapidly approaching. This is a massive draft for the Boston Bruins, as they have the seventh-overall pick after a disappointing 2024-25 season.
With the Bruins having one of the NHL's weakest prospect pools, general manager Don Sweeney needs to hit with this pick. Thankfully, with the Bruins selecting seventh, they have a good shot of landing a very promising prospect.
When looking at potential targets the Bruins should have on their radar, there is no question that forward Roger McQueen should be one of them.
McQueen, 18, is a 6-foot-5 center who is considered one of the top prospects in this draft. This is because he is a skilled and gritty center who has the potential to blossom into a legitimate top-six center at the NHL level. With the Bruins needing serious help down the middle, he should grab their attention.
McQueen was limited to only 17 games this season with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL due to injury, but he certainly impressed during them. The Saskatoon native posted 10 goals, 20 points, and a plus-8 rating during the campaign. This was after he had 21 goals and 51 points in 53 games with the Wheat Kings in 2023-24.
If the McQueen is still available when the Bruins are on the clock, he certainly will warrant some consideration. It is hard not to be encouraged by his offensive skill and size, and he could be a major pickup for Boston because of it.
