The Bruins should take a shot on this Oilers veteran forward.
The Boston Bruins are facing off against the Edmonton Oilers tonight (March 5). This is a matchup against two top NHL clubs, and it should be very entertaining because of it.
Leading up to this contest, the Oilers made a pretty notable roster move, placing veteran forward Sam Gagner on waivers. This could indicate that the Oilers are preparing to make a trade and freeing up a spot on their NHL roster because of it. Yet, when it comes to Boston, they should seriously consider taking a flier on Gagner.
Gagner, 34, is having a decent season as a depth forward for the Oilers, posting five goals and 10 points in 27 games. With the Bruins' bottom six needing more offense, he could be a player worth taking a chance on. This is especially so when noting that he offers versatility, playing both down the middle and on the wing.
Gagner also carries value because he has a plethora of NHL experience and is a well-known leader. As a result, he would not be the worst forward for Boston to claim off waivers. He also has an easily affordable $775,000 cap hit.

In 1,042 career NHL games, Gagner has 197 goals and 529 points.
