This Bruins star talked about Jim Montgomery being let go by the Original Six club.

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand spoke with reporters about former head coach Jim Montgomery's firing. While doing so, Marchand made it clear that Montgomery being let go is on the players.
Here is what Marchand said on the matter, as reported by Ty Anderson of 98.5 The Sports Hub:
"This is a reflection of our play. If we had done our job in here, he'd still be here. Feel terrible as a group. We let a good person down."

There is no question that the Bruins' poor play is the main reason why the Original Six club showed Montgomery the door. After entering this season with big expectations, they currently have an 8-9-3 record. They have also have lost three straight games and are struggling in all areas. Thus, it is hard to disagree with Marchand's statement on the matter.
In 20 games this season, Marchand is second on the team with five goals, eight assists, and 13 points.
