During the summer, the Boston Bruins signed forward Cole Koepke to a one-year deal. While Koepke was expected by many to start the season in the AHL, he has instead become a great part of Boston's fourth line. Furthermore, with how wonderfully he is playing, it seems like this could remain the case for a while.

Besides giving the Bruins plenty of energy in a bottom-six role, he has been a delightful surprise for the Original Six club offensively. In fact, he has already hit a new level offensively this early on into the season.

With his assist today (Oct. 14) against the Florida Panthers, Koepke has now set new career highs with three assists and four points this season. It has taken the 6-foot-1 winger just four games to accomplish this feat.

Before joining the Bruins, Koepke played in 26 games over the two previous with the Tampa Bay Lightning. During those games, he had just one goal and two assists. Clearly, the change of scenery and more significant opportunity in Boston are benefitting the Two Harbors, Minnesota native immensely. He is showing that he deserves to play in the NHL, and it will be fascinating to see what he does for an encore from here.
