This former Bruins forward could be a solid addition to the Rangers.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

The NHL free-agent market has seen most of its top players find new homes, but there are still some decent players available. One of them is former Boston Bruins forward James van Riemsdyk. While the 35-year-old has yet to get signed, there is a good chance that will change, as he is still a solid top-nine forward who provides decent depth production.

When looking at potential landing spots for van Riemsdyk, one club that could make sense is the New York Rangers. It is no secret that the Rangers could use another skilled forward in their bottom six, so a player like van Riemsdyk could grab their attention.

If the Rangers signed van Riemsdyk to a cheap one-year deal, he would offer the Original Six club another option for their third or fourth line. In addition, he still works well as a net-front presence, so he would give them another weapon for their power play.

If van Riemsdyk stays on the free-agent market for much longer, it would not be particularly surprising if the Rangers offered him a deal or even a professional tryout. It looks like there could be a decent fit there.
