Earlier this offseason, the Boston Bruins made a significant splash, signing defenseman Nikita Zadorov to a six-year, $30 million contract. The expectation is that he will be a key part of the Bruins' defense moving forward.

It is no secret that the Bruins have needed a big and rugged defenseman, and they now have that in Zadorov. Due to this, many fans are excited about No. 91's arrival to Boston. The same can be said for Bruins superstar Charlie McAvoy.

While recently speaking with reporters, McAvoy made it clear that he is ecstatic that Zadorov is now a Bruin.

Here is what McAvoy said on the matter:

"A lot of fun. I really enjoyed watching him from afar, and the player that he is, and the career that he's had, and I mean, I'm thrilled with the opportunity to have him here, and he makes our D core really, really whole. We've got a little bit of everything, and I'm just really happy that he's here, and if I get the chance to play with him, I think we'll hit it off. I think we'll be really good together."

There has been plenty of talk about the prospect of Zadorov being McAvoy's defensive partner next season. Hampus Lindholm is often played with Brandon Carlo on the second pairing, while rising youngster Mason Lohrei may make the most sense on the bottom pairing with Andrew Peeke as he continues to develop his game. Thus, Zadorov has a real shot of finding a home on the top pairing with McAvoy.

It is understandable that McAvoy is excited about Zadorov joining the Bruins. It is well-known that Zadorov is incredibly difficult to go up against because of his highly physical style of play. In addition, while he is more of a shutdown defenseman, he also can chip in offensively. In 75 regular-season games this past campaign, he had six goals and 20 points. He also had an excellent postseason, recording four goals and eight points in 13 games.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Zadorov and McAvoy play on the same pairing this season. Clearly, No. 73 is very open to the idea.
