Sidney Crosby has passed Phil Esposito on the NHL's all-time scoring list.
Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby is one of the greatest players in the history of the NHL. The 2005 first-overall pick has put together a Hall of Fame career, and he has now hit two new massive milestones.
In the Penguins' 6-5 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings, Crosby scored a goal and added two assists. This marked his 1,000th career assist and moved him to the NHL's top 10 in all-time career points with 1,591.
So, who did Crosby pass by reaching his 1,591th career point? Boston Bruins legend Phil Esposito.
Seeing Crosby pass one of the NHL's greatest players in Esposito with points shows just how dominant No. 87 has been throughout his career. Crosby should continue to rise up the board from here, as he needs only 51 points to pass Colorado Avalanche legend Joe Sakic and jump to the No. 9 spot.
Nevertheless, congrats to Crosby for hitting such an impressive milestone. While Esposito is now out of the top 10 in all-time career points, that does not take away just how spectacular his career was.
