This Sabres forward is inching closer to a big milestone.
The Buffalo Sabres' 2023-24 has been full of frustration. In a campaign where the Sabres were expected to take that next step and become a playoff club, they have instead headed in the wrong direction.
While this season has had its rough points for Buffalo, JJ Peterka has not been one of them. In fact, he has been one of the brightest spots of the club this season. The surging forward has taken a big step forward in his development, posting a career-high 45 points in 73 games thus far. It is clear that he has the tools to be a top-six winger at the NHL level.
What's even more impressive about Peterka's season is that he is flirting with a notable single-season milestone. The 22-year-old currently has 25 goals on the season and has a chance of hitting the 30-goal mark if he ends the season on a high note. The youngster has been on fire as of late, posting four goals in his last three games. If he keeps this up, he could hit 30 over this final stretch.
No matter what happens with Peterka from here, it is quite apparent that this has been a very successful season for him. The Sabres clearly have found themselves a gem selecting him in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
