This Sabres rookie is starting to heat up.

Heading into the 2023-24 season, Buffalo Sabres goalie Devon Levi was expected to be the club's clear number-one goalie. However, the young netminder struggled with consistency for much of this season and has spent a good chunk of the year with the Rochester Americans.
Spending time in the AHL has helped Levi, as he has been excellent for Rochester. In 19 games with the club, he has an 11-5-3 record, 2.52 GAA, and a .927 SV%. That is immensely impressive stuff from the Sabres top prospect, and it has been starting to translate over to the NHL as of late.

In his two appearances with the Sabres in March, Levi has played marvelously. On March 19, he saved 31 out of 33 shots against the Vancouver Canucks. Then, in his most recent appearance against the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday, he saved 31 out of 32 shots in relief. While that was a brutal loss for the Sabres, he was the lone bright spot.
There is no question that Levi has the potential to blossom into a true starter in the NHL, and it's been great to see him performing so well at both levels as of late. Clearly, he has benefitted by developing into the AHL, and it will be intriguing to see if he can finish the year on a high note from here.
