The Hurricanes added dynamic playmaker Mikey Berchild at 105th overall.
The Carolina Hurricanes have selected American winger Mikey Berchild with the 105th overall pick.
The USNTDP left winger is again an undersized forward (coming in at just 5-foot-10, 181lbs), but he's a very talented offensive player.
He had 23 goals and 53 points in 58 games with the US National U18 team this past season and had four goals and six points at the U18 World Junior Championship.
He's committed to play for Denver next season.
While he was not in The Hockey News' top-100 prospects, Tony Ferrari had him on his sleepers list.
"The undersized winger is one of the most tactically sound and intelligent players in the draft," Ferrari said. "His ability to effectively weave his skill into making smart plays is what allows him to make an impact."
