The NHL punished the Senators forward for striking a defenseless Sean Walker during a post-whistle scrum, sidelining the repeat offender for the start of the 2026-27 season.

The NHL has dished out punishment for the sucker punches thrown by Ottawa Senators forward Ridly Greig on Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Sean Walker, suspending him for two games to start the 2026-27 season.

In the second period of Game 4, Walker was entangled with Warren Foegele during a postwhistle scrum and Greig came up to them as the extra man and threw two sucker punches on Walker.

"This was not a situation where two players were squaring up in a mutual confrontation," the league stated in their explainer video. "Greig knowingly approaches and elects to throw two sucker punches toward the defenseless Walker, with sufficient force to merit supplemental discipline."

This is already Greig's second suspension in his 247 game career.

The Hurricanes went on to win that game 4-2 and the series 4-0.
