He's rewriting hockey history. Wallstedt records fourth shutout in six games, a feat unseen in 87 years.

The story continues for Jesper Wallstedt. At this point it is almost improbable yet he continues to break records as a rookie goaltender.

After another shutout, a 33-save shutout against the team that passed on him in the 2021 NHL Draft, Wallstedt became the fourth rookie goaltender in NHL history and first in 87 years to record four shutouts over a span of six games.

The others are Frank Brimsek with the 1938-39 Bruins, Dolly Dolson with the 1928-29 Detroit Cougars and Tiny Thompson with the 1928-29 Bruins.

“The way we defend, our structure in our D-zone right now, the way guys sacrifice themselves — like I say, it’s a team effort,” Wallstedt said. “The way we’ve been playing right now in our own zone especially, has been nothing else but spectacular.”

Wallstedt, 23, recorded his League-leading fourth shutout of the season on Tuesday and required the second-fewest games to reach five in his career (15 GP) behind "Mr. Zero" Brimsek (9 GP).

He is now 8-0-2 on the season with a league-leading, 1.74 goals-against average and a .944 save percentage.

He became the third rookie goaltender in the last 45 years to begin the season with a point streak of 10 or more games. The others are Robb Stauber (10 GP in 1992-93 w/ LAK) and Bob Froese (10 GP in 1982-83 w/ PHI).
