With the playoffs looming and just one game left in the regular season, the Minnesota Wild (45-24-12) has made a signing.
Top College free agent Ben Dexheimer and the Wild have agreed to a deal on an entry-level contract that begins in 2026-27, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Dexheimer, 23, played four years for the University of Wisconsin and was the captain this season as a senior. The native of Edina, Minnesota, recorded seven goals and 28 points in 39 games for the Badgers this season, which made it to the Frozen Four and lost in the National Championship.
In his collegiate career, the 5-foot-10 defenseman recorded 13 goals, 71 assists and 84 points in 149 games. The right-shot defender will start his pro career in Iowa of the AHL on a PTO before his official entry-level contract starts next season.
