Trenin's powerful swing rewrites Wild history, shattering the single-season hits record with relentless precision and offensive dominance.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Yakov Trenin made franchise history in the Minnesota Wild's (40-19-12) matchup against the Dallas Stars (43-15-11) on Saturday.

He delivered seven hits to raise his season total to 358 and set a new single-season franchise record.

With that mark, Trenin passed Cal Clutterbuck, who recorded 356 hits during the 2008-09 season.

It’s a fitting milestone for Trenin, whose impact this season has often gone beyond the scoresheet. While offense has come in spurts, the Wild forward has carved out his role with relentless forechecking, heavy finishing, and a physical presence that shows up every night.

Against Dallas, that edge was on full display. Trenin was involved, disruptive, and punishing on the body. He finished the night with seven hits.

Clutterbuck’s name had long been attached to one of the organization’s most recognizable toughness records. Now, Trenin owns it alone.

For a player brought in to add bite, energy and playoff-style heaviness to Minnesota’s lineup, setting the franchise’s single-season hits record is more than just a stat.

Trenin has become exactly the kind of player the Wild hoped he would be.
