Philadelphia Flyers head coach John Tortorella was ejected in the first period of tonight's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With 9:11 remaining in the first period, Tortorella did not want to leave the bench after arguing with the referees. He was assessed a bench minor and a game misconduct.

The Flyers are playing shorthanded because Egor Zamula is unavailable due to illness. The game hasn't gone their way, as they were down 4-0 at the time of the ejection.

Sam Ersson was pulled in favor of Felix Sandstrom. The playoff race is getting tight in the eastern conference, and a win against the Lightning would do wonders for the Flyers' confidence and positioning.

The Flyers finished the period down 4-0 but won't have their head coach behind them for the remainder of the contest.
