San Jose Sharks prospects Will Smith, Quentin Musty, and Luca Cagnoni have finished their regular seasons at their respective teams. All of them had stellar seasons, resulting in league recognition.
NCAA leader in points. As a freshman. Not much more needs to be said about Smith's spectacular season.
He finished the season and conference tournament with 67 points (23 goals, 44 assists). He was named Hockey East MVP of the conference tournament.
Smith was a staple in Boston College's conference championship, scoring four goals and adding an assist against their biggest rival, Boston University.
Smith also won gold at the 2024 World Juniors with Team USA.
Musty led the OHL in points per game with 1.92. In 53 games, the winger had 102 points (43 goals, 59 assists).
He finished the month of March by being named the OHL player of the month. He scored 15 goals and added 15 assists in 11 games.
In 53 games last season, musty only scored 78 points (26 goals, 52 assists). He showed tremendous development this season and could be a force alongside Smith for years.
Cagnoni had the best season by a WHL defenseman in the 21st century and the best season in the last 30 years. He scored 90 points this season, 18 goals, and 72 assists, becoming the first defenseman in the WHL to do so since the 1993-94 season.
The WHL announced its First-Team All-Stars for the U.S. Division for the season, and undoubtedly, Cagnoni was on the list.
He scored 90 points in just 65 games this season. His offensive contributions are well documented, but the former fourth-round pick also improved his defensive game. Cagnoni was only a +11 last season. He pushed that number to +47 this season.
These three players look like they are the next core of the San Jose Sharks, along with what is hopefully to come in the 2024 NHL Draft.
