This former Tampa Bay Lightning enforcer has found his new home for the season.

Last month, former Tampa Bay Lightning tough guy Austin Watson was invited to the Detroit Red Wings' training camp on a professional tryout (PTO). Now, it is safe to say that he impressed them.

The Red Wings have signed Watson to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2024-25 season.

Watson, 32, spent the 2023-24 season with the Lightning. In 33 games as a Bolt, the 6-foot-4 winger posted two goals, two assists, 85 hits, 93 penalty minutes, and a plus-2 rating.

With this move, the Red Wings have added a tough winger to their forward depth. It will now be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make with the Red Wings organization from here.
