Jason Krog played over 200 games in the NHL, including four with the Vancouver Canucks during the 2008-09 season.
The Vancouver Canucks have found their new skills and skating coach. On Monday, GM Patrik Allvin announced that Jason Krog would be joining the organization as a skills and skating coach, working with both the NHL team as well as the Abbotsford Canucks. Krog has spent the last few years with the Burnaby Winter Club while additionally working with Simon Fraser University as a hockey advisor during the 2023-24 season.
Krog brings plenty of experience to the Canucks organization. He played 200 games in the NHL, which included a brief stint in Vancouver during 2008-09, as well as 535 games at the AHL level. Among his career highlights include scoring the Calder Cup-winning goal in 2008 and winning the Hobey Baker Award in 1999. The Fernie, B.C., born forward, also had an extensive career outside of North America, playing games in Sweden, Switzerland and France.
Krog will have some big shoes to fill as he replaces Yogi Švejkovský, who was recently promoted to assistant coach. He will have plenty of help, though, as Daniel and Henrik Sedin are also set to take on larger roles at both the NHL and AHL levels. The former teammates will now have an opportunity to work together, helping the next wave of Canucks stars sharpen their skills and get ready for life in the NHL.
