The Vancouver Canucks have signed left-shot defenceman Derek Forbot to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million. The 32-year-old had four points and 68 hits in 35 games with the Boston Bruins last year. Forbot had nine years of experience and is on pace to play his 500th career game early in the 2024-25 season.
The 2023-24 season was tough for Forbot, as he missed most of it with a lower-body injury. A physical defender, Forbort averaged 17:48 during the regular season while playing three games in the playoffs. Based on the current lineup, Forbot is projected to play on Vancouver's third line while also being part of the penalty kill.
