The Vancouver Canucks have selected Riley Patterson from the Barrie Colts 125th overall in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Listed at 6'1", 193 pounds, Patterson is a center who scored 29 goals and added 63 points in 68 games with the Colts. Averaging 17:34 of ice time during the regular season, Patterson also suited up for six postseason games, scoring two goals and recording three points.

Patterson is known for his strong skater and ability to score from in tight. He is also a good playmaker and is able to find teammates in the slot with tape to tape passes. Patterson is also a strong puck carrier and rarely commits turnovers in the transition game.
