The Vancouver Canucks hung on to a 4-3 lead against the Edmonton Oilers, and chaos ensued immediately after the game ended.
Artus Silovs was sensational all night, with his 42nd save coming against Oilers captain Connor McDavid with little time on the clock.
Following that save, Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy pushed the Oilers captain, to which McDavid responded with a slash at Soucy's legs. Then Soucy went to cross-check McDavid and caught him up high after Nikita Zadorov cross-checked McDavid in the back at the same time.
Soucy was given a cross-checking penalty after the game.
Media members and former NHL players have voiced their opinions online, and there is a question of whether the NHL's Department of Player Safety will investigate this incident, especially since it involves a high-profile player in McDavid.
The rivalry was already high, but tonight had an extra bit of nastiness. Elias Lindholm and Dakota Joshua planted Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm with two big checks.
Zadorov sent Evander Kane back to his bench with a big hit late in the second period.
Whatever the case with the final scrum, the Canucks walk away from game three with a 2-1 series lead and momentum on their side.
