The 2025 Nations Face-Off will take place from February 12 to 20 and features Team Canada, the U.S.A., Finland and Sweden.
Details have finally been revealed for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. The tournament, which will be held in Montreal and Boston, is scheduled for February 12 to 20, 2025 and will feature Team Canada, the U.S.A., Finland and Sweden. While the entire team lineups won't be announced until closer to the tournament, the first six players from each team will be revealed on June 28, which is also the date the NHL Draft is scheduled to start.
When it comes to the rosters, there should be plenty of Vancouver Canucks participating in the tournament. Quinn Hughes will most likely be one of the six named to Team U.S.A., while Elias Pettersson should be among the first selected to play for Team Sweden. Other players who are currently signed by the Canucks for the 2024-25 season and could receive consideration for the final roster include J.T. Miller, Brock Boeser and Thatcher Demko for the Americans, while Nils Höglander could be a name to watch for Team Sweden. There is also a chance that Patrik Allvin will be tasked with assembling Team Sweden, as he is the only Swedish GM in the NHL at this time.
According to the NHL's press release, "All games in the 4 Nations Face-Off will be played in accordance with NHL rules. Each team will play three tournament games in a traditional Round Robin format, under the following points system: 3 points for a win in regulation time; 2 points for a win in overtime/shootout; 1 point for a loss in overtime/shootout; and 0 points for a loss in regulation time. The two teams with the best tournament record will then advance to a one-game Final." As for where to watch the tournament, it will be broadcast on Sportsnet in Canada.
This tournament will be exciting to watch as it's the first time since 2014 that fans will get to see a best-on-best international tournament. While NHL players attend the World Championship every year, it is not a best-on-best tournament, as many are missing due to declining an invitation or participating in the playoffs. Attendance should not be an issue at this event, as both the NHL and NHLPA are running the tournament.
