The Edmonton Oilers will be without Adam Henrique for Game 1 of the second round against the Vancouver Canucks.
Henrique has been a key forward for Edmonton since he was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks at the trade deadline. He has one goal and one assist in five games so far in the postseason but has been playing left wing on Connor McDavid's line.
He has also averaged 1:01 of ice time while the Oilers are shorthanded. He can also play center and took 16 draws during the Oilers ' opening-round series win over the Los Angeles Kings.
Surprisingly, Henrique leads Edmonton in hits in the postseason with 22. He didn't practice during the first round and whatever injury is bothering him will keep him out of tonight's game.
There is no clear timeline for his return to the lineup, but Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch hopes to have the forward back for Friday's game 2.
Losing a player who contributes a lot to a lineup like Henrique does for the Oilers in the playoffs will hurt, but Edmonton's top stars remain and will be the focus of the Canuks throughout the entire series.
