Jack Berglund is a prospect to keep an eye on when the Vancouver Canucks select 93rd at the 2024 NHL Draft.

With the 2024 NHL Draft approaching, it's time to look at some prospects that may be available to the Vancouver Canucks. While the Canucks do not have a first or second-round pick, this a deep class that will have talented players available throughout. Today's prospect is center Jack Berglund, who Vancouver could select with the 93rd overall pick.
If the Canucks are looking to add size down the middle, Berglund could be their guy. The Swedish-born center is listed at 6'3", 210 pounds and isn't afraid to play a physical game. One of 11 U18 players to play games at the SHL level this season, Berglund plays a two-way game and was a key contributor during Team Sweden's Bronze Medal Run at this year's U18s.
Berglund strength is in the defensive zone. He has developed into a solid penalty killer and knows how to use his physicality to win board battles. Berglund can also read the play well, intercepting passes while also getting bodies and sticks in shooting lanes, limiting what the opposition can do in the offensive zone.
As for his play in the offensive zone, Berglund is best when he is using his size. He is a solid forechecker and can use his 6'3" frame to protect the puck. As expected, Berglund is a pain to deal with in front of the net as not only is he hard to knock down, but he is also constantly looking for opportunities to deflect pucks or jam in rebounds.
Ultimately, Berglund checks a lot of the boxes Vancouver is looking for when it comes to center depth. While he still has room to develop, especially on the skating side, the tools he has match well with the way the Canucks want their centers to play. If he is available at the end of the third round, he is worth the gamble, as he could develop into a future bottom-six center at the NHL level.
