Welcome to the Vancouver Canucks 2024-25 Milestones Preview. In this series, we take a look at which players are closing in on milestones ahead of the upcoming season. In this edition, we take a look at Elias Pettersson, who should continue to climb multiple franchises' all-time lists.

Pettersson's seventh season with the Canucks should be jammed packed with milestones. Starting with points, Pettersson has the chance to become just the seventh person in franchise history to surpass the 500 mark. Currently sitting at 412, once he hits point 88 on the season, he will join an exclusive list that includes the Sedins, Markus Näslund, Trevor Linden, Toni Tanti and Thomas Gradin.

As for goals, Pettersson is just 30 away from 200 in his career. Assuming Brock Boeser gets the 21 he needs, the two could become the ninth and tenth players in franchise history to hit the 200 mark. Pettersson should also be the first player from his draft class to 200 as Nico Hischier, who currently sits in second, has 136 compared to Pettersson's 170.

Game-winning goals is another category where Pettersson could finish the season near the top of the franchise's all-time list. He currently has 32, which is tied with Pavel Bure for fifth in franchise history. If he can replicate the ten he had last season, he will make his way into third place, trailing only Näslund's 49 and Daniel Sedin's 86.

Lastly, Pettersson has the opportunity to join Tanti, Linden, Näslund and Petri Skriko as the only players to have four or more consecutive seasons of 30+ goals. This is another category where a current teammate could join him, as J.T. Miller has also hit the 30-goal mark in the last three seasons. If Pettersson can stay healthy throughout the season, he should be able to fly past the 30-goal mark and may even come close to hitting 40 for the first time in his career.

By the end of the 2024-25 season, Pettersson could be a top-five player in franchise history in various categories. Signed to an eight-year extension during the season, there is even a chance he ends his career in Vancouver at the top of most lists. For now, though, the focus is on next season, which should produce plenty of special moments for EP40.
