Winslow Townson-USA TODAY Sports - Golden Knights Comeback Falls Short; Lose 5-4 To The Bruins

The Vegas Golden Knights stormed back from a 3-0 deficit but it wasn't enough as they lose 5-4 to the Boston Bruins.

Paul Cotter, Alex Pietrangelo, Michael Amadio and Chandler Stephenson all scored for the Golden Knights, Morgan Geekie scored a hat-trick and Mason Lohrei scored the winner for Boston.

The Golden Knights found themselves trailing 3-0 after the first period where Geekie scored twice and Jesper Boqvist added another.

In the second period, the Golden Knights scored twice before Geekie completed the hat-trick. Amadio scored late in the second to bring the Golden Knights within one.

Stephenson stole the puck while shorthanded and tied the game at four. With less than five minutes remaining Lohrei scored on the power play to give the Bruins the lead.

This was the first regulation win in 10 games for the Bruins. Bruce Cassidy spoke to the media to give his thoughts on the game.

"I expected it to be a close game, but I didn't expect it to be 5-4." Cassidy also mentioned what he thinks the team needs to do better. "Our urgency at the start, our urgency on the power play and for some of the younger guys just being in those moments, those tight games against a good team on the road in the third period and how you have to change your game a little bit.

The Golden Knights are still in second place in the Pacific division. They sit 10 points back of the Vancouver Canucks and just one point ahead of the Edmonton Oilers. The Golden Knights are back in action on Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres.
