Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone will miss the rest of the regular season and will be questionable for the playoffs.
Darren Dreger on Insider Trading reported the news about Stone.
Stone suffered a lacerated spleen against the Nashville Predators on Feb. 20. Stone had played in 56 games before sustaining the injury.
Stone will likely end up on the LTIR giving the Golden Knights a lot of cap space to work with as the trade deadline approaches.
Dreger also mentioned the cap space that Vegas now possesses..
“You can be certain Kelly McCrimmon will utilize his cap space.”
The Golden Knights are still without Jack Eichel, though he is close to returning, Pavel Dorofeeyev, William Carrier and Brett Howden. With their forward group as thin as it currently is, the choice of what to look for in the trade market is obvious.
The Golden Knights have been linked to multiple forwards including Jake Guentzel, Vladimir Tarasenko and Adam Henrique. All three players are on expiring contracts.
