Former Vegas Golden Knights' defenseman Daniil Miromanov has signed a two-year $1.25M AAV contract extension with the Calgary Flames after being traded.
Miromanov was traded alongside a first-round pick and a conditional third-round pick for Noah Hanifin. The 26-year-old defenseman unfortunately wasn't given much of a shot to be a regular NHLer because of the depth the Golden Knights had on defence.
The Flames have traded three defensemen this season giving Miromanov a lot of runway to be a regular NHL player and to play a lot of minutes. The 6'4 defenseman has only played in 29 games in his career, spanning over three seasons.
Miromanov has strong results in the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights and the Flames clearly believe this can translate now in the NHL.
The Flames have two right-handed defensemen currently on their roster already in Rasmus Andersson and MacKenzie Weegar. Weegar has experience playing on the left side and there have been rumours about the Flames possibly trading Andersson. Either way, Miromanov has two good defensemen he can learn from and play alongside in Calgary.
