The Winnipeg Jets have announced forward Nikolaj Ehlers as a game-time decision for tonight's potential series-clinching Game 6.

The 29-year-old has been out since Apr. 12, when he collided with a referee, sustaining a lower-body injury. Ehlers began skating alone when the Jets were in St. Louis for Games 3 and four before returning in a non-contact jersey ahead of Game 5.

HC Scott Arniel said Ehlers would accompany the team for Game 6 against the St. Louis Blues but wouldn't reveal which jersey colour Ehlers would be sporting. This morning's skate indicated that he was back to full contact, and following the practice, Arniel stated that Ehlers would be a game-time decision.

The Aalborg, DEN, native took line rushes next to Vladislav Namestnikov and Cole Perfetti, his usual linemates throughout the regular season.

Ehlers recorded one goal and two points against the Blues this season, missing one of their matchups with an injury. His return will help the Jets create more offence on the road, something they've struggled to do in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Jets have been banged up in the first round, missing Gabriel Vilardi for four games, Ehlers for five, Dylan DeMelo for one and now Mark Scheifele for at least one game. Despite that, they have an excellent opportunity to close out the series on the road, and if they can't, they'll return to Winnipeg for a do-or-die Game 7.

On the road, the Jets have been unable to maintain the Blues' transition offence, and Connor Hellebuyck has not bailed them out yet. They've served up a plethora of high-danger chances, something they'll need to keep in check tonight. A quick start in the first period is also much-needed, which is another element of the game the Jets have not done well in the playoffs.

Puck drop is at 7:00 PM Central Time, and tonight's projected starters are Hellebuyck and Jordan Binnington, set to face off once again.
