Utah Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers had three assists in the victory.

The penultimate week of the 2025-26 QMJHL season was underway on Thursday, a day later than expected thanks to the ice storm that punished Quebec and the East coast on Wednesday.

Some top teams were in action, including a big come-from-behind victory from the Moncton Wildcats to keep pace atop the league table.

The Moncton Wildcats are chock-full of NHL drafted talent, and Tommy Bleyl is the next one up.

After the Wildcats allowed two goals in the first 12 minutes of the first, from Adam Klaus and Raoul Boilard, it was the record-setting rookie that started the comeback.

He took a pass from top Utah Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers, Bleyl walked the line, stepped into open space and fired a wrister home past Eagles goalie Felix Hamel.

The goal showed scouts just another reason, on top of his statistical profile, why he should be a player whose name is called earlier rather than later come June. The shifty blueliner has been one of the best in the QMJHL this season, and his pair with Adam Fortier-Gendron one of the best in the whole CHL.

His goal cut the Cape Breton lead to 2-1 heading into the first intermission. After a scoreless second, despite Moncton holding an 18-4 advantage in shots during the middle frame, the Wildcats would break through in the third.

San Jose Sharks draft pick Teddy Mutryn got the game level on the power play, before Rian Chudzinski gave the hosts their first lead of the night at the 14:37 mark of the third period.

Preston Lounsbury would seal it into an empty net, and Moncton secured a huge victory that keeps them just a point behind league-leaders Chicoutimi, as both teams have just four games to go.

Desnoyers ended the night with three assists, while fellow Mammoth prospect Gabe Smith and Fortier-Gendron had two. Rudy Guimond stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief of Jacoby Weiner, who was removed after the second Eagles goal.
