Anders Miller’s flawless goaltending and a lightning-fast offensive surge silenced Prospera Place as the WHL Champions dismantled the host Rockets with a masterclass in defensive structural discipline.
The Everett Silvertips have put on a defensive clinic at the 2026 Memorial Cup. Showcasing elite structural discipline and an explosive transition game, the WHL Champions silenced a passionate hometown crowd at Prospera Place with a commanding 4-0 shutout victory over the host Kelowna Rockets.
Defenceman Kayd Ruedig opened the scoring by firing a point shot past Josh Banini. Exactly 25 seconds later, before the host squad could even mentally regroup, Jaxon Pisani capitalized on a brilliant feed from Jaxsin Vaughan to double the lead to 2-0.
Just 1:03 into the middle frame, Finnish standout Matias Vanhanen scored an unassisted masterpiece to stretch the lead to 3-0, effectively breaking the structural resolve of the Rockets' defence.
The onslaught was officially rounded out late in the third period. At the 13:07 mark, Carter Bear put the final exclamation point on the evening, wiring a heavy shot into the back of the net. Both Vanhanen and Ruedig picked up assists on the play, capping off multi-point performances for both players.
Goaltender Anders Miller turned aside every single puck thrown his way to secure his second shutout of the Memorial Cup.
