Three teams are separated by two points at the top of the Western Conference.

As the WHL heads towards the postseason, three teams have separated themselves at the top of the Western Conference. While the Prince George Cougars are currently in first place, the Portland Winterhawks and Everett Silvertips sit two points back and will fight tooth and nail for the number one seed. Here is a look at the three teams and which one may have the edge.
Starting with Prince George, they look like the favourites to capture the number one seed in the West. With 24 games remaining, they have 61 points and easily the most manageable schedule of the three. Of those 24 games, six of them are against the Kamloops Blazers, while three are against the Seattle Thunderbirds. While they do have four tough matchups against the Victoria Royals, they are in prime position to capture their first B.C. Division title since 2016-17.
The next best odds has to be Portland, who currently sit with 59 points and 26 games remaining. They have six matchups against Seattle but also must face Everett twice more this season. If they can collect all four points from their remaining games against the Silvertips, it will go a long way in securing the U.S. Division title and top spot in the West.
Last but certainly not least is Everett, who also has 59 points but only 23 games remaining. Like with Portland, their chase for the top seed will most likely be determined by the result of their games against the Winterhawaks. Currently on a six-game win streak where they have scored 7+ in three of those matchups, it would be a mistake to bet against them as they are one of the hottest teams in the WHL over the past few weeks.
