Canada finished fourth at the 2024 Youth Olympic Games, ending the tournament with a 2-0-2 record.

Despite establishing an early 3-0 lead, Team Canada fell 5-4 to Team Finland in the Bronze Medal Game at the 2024 Youth Olympic Games. This was the second straight game Canada had lost via the shootout, losing 6-5 against the USA during the semi-finals. The game featured six of the seven WHLers Canada brought to the tournament, with the only player missing being Medicine Hat Tigers Liam Ruck, who was injured earlier in the tournament. 

Overall, three WHLers ended up on the scoresheet by the end of the night. Victoria Royals Keaton Verhoeff and Spoke Chiefs Mathis Preston each finished with a goal, while Vancouver Giants Ryan Lin led the team with two assists. In net, Chiefs goaltender Carter Esler stopped 32 of the 36 shots he faced but was beaten on all three shootout attempts he faced. 

Now that the tournament is over, the seven WHL prospects will return to their CSSHL teams. With just over a month until the end-of-season tournament, each player will be looking to end their U18 career with a championship. Do not be surprised to see these prospects at the WHL level as well this season as teams continue to push for a playoff spot and a chance at the Memorial Cup.
