Brett Mirwald has been named the WHL's Goaltender of the Year for the 2023-24 season. The Vancouver Giants goalie is the first player in franchise history to take home the Del Wilson Memorial Trophy. This was Mirwald's final WHL season as the Saskatoon-born goaltender finished his WHL career with a record of 42-43-8.

Mirwald put together a season to remember in 2023-24. He ranked first in the WHL in saves (1723), first in minutes played (3,190), tied for third in wins (29) and tied for third in save percentage (.913). Mirwald was also named WHL Goaltender of the Week, a league-high five times this season.

Now that his WHL career is complete, Mirwald's attention shifts to the future. Based on his play, he deserves a pro contract, but he may decide to go with the USports route next season. Regardless, he left a lasting imprint on Giants fans, as he was one of the main reasons Vancouver was able to finish as the sixth seed this season.
