A look at three WHLers who had impressive games for their countries at the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championships.
After a day off, both Canada and Czechia were back in action on Sunday. While Czechia needed a shootout to beat Sweden, Canada cruised to a 7-1 win over Switzerland. Here is a look at three WHLers who had standout performances on April 28.
Gavin McKenna- Medicine Hat Tigers/Canada
Moving forward, it may just be easier to call this recurring update Gavin McKenna and other WHL standouts. The Medicine Hat Tigers superstar was at it again, this time recording a goal and two assists against Switzerland. The 16-year-old is putting together a historic tournament and is on pace to surpass Alex Ovechkin's and Mikhail Grigorenko's U17 scoring record at the event.
Adam Jecho- Edmonton Oil Kings/Czechia
Adam Jecho had an impressive performance in Czechia's 3-2 shootout win over Sweden. The Edmonton Oil Kings forward had a goal and was on the ice for both of Czechia's tallies. A potential top 64 selection in the upcoming draft, Jecho showed that he can be a difference-maker against some of the tournament's best teams.
Ryder Ritchie- Prince Albert Raiders/Canada
Ryder Ritchie had a strong outing in Canada's win over Switzerland. The Prince Albert Raiders winger scored his first goal of the tournament and recorded an assist on Tij Iginal's goal in the second period. Overall, it was an important performance as Ritchie showed he can play up the lineup and has some chemistry with Iginla and Jett Luchanko.
