A look at three WHLers who had impressive games for their countries at the 2024 IIHF World U18 Championship.
Team Canada made a statement on Tuesday, defeating Kazakhstan 11-3 at the World U18 Championship. As they have all tournament, WHLers led the way and, in one case, put on a performance to remember. Here is a look at three WHLers who had standout performances on April 29.
Gavin McKenna- Medicine Hat Tigers/Canada
Once again, Gavin McKenna was unstoppable. The Medicine Hat Tigers forward had two goals and four assists and was named player of the game for Team Canada. Currently sitting with 14 points in four games, he is just one off, tying the Canadian record held by Tyson Jost and Macklin Celebrini for points in a single tournament.
Tij Iginla- Kelowna Rockets/Canada
Tij Iginla was dynamic in the offensive zone throughout the entire game. The Kelowna Rockets forward scored his fourth of the tournament and led all players with nine shots on goal. He also finished the night going two for two on faceoffs, showing that he can be effective in the dot.
Harrison Brunicke- Kamloops Blazers/Canada
Harrison Brunicke was a standout on the blue line. The Kamloops Blazers defender scored a goal and finished the game with five shots on net. Playing a team-high 19:22, he has developed into a crucial part of Canada's defensive core this tournament.
