Jadyn Weiser - @EliteSportsPhotos - Recruiting Class: Assumption Prepares For Inaugural Season

Launching an NCAA Division I program from scratch is not easy. It's a task the Assumption Greyhounds are set to take on in 2023-2024 as the school fields their first ever NCAA DI women's hockey team.

Assumption will be eased into NCAA competition entering the NCAA's youngest conference, NEWHA, that is still looking to produce a program that can compete nationally. This year the conference earned an automatic bid to the National Championships, represented by champion LIU.

One of the biggest additions to Assumption's lineup comes through the transfer portal as the team added Post University's leading scorer Sheridan Terrazzano.

Assumption dipped into two regions specifically, focusing their recruitment on Minnesota high school hockey, as well as the Boston Jr. Eagles and Massachussettes prep programs.

Here's a look at a few members of Assumption's inaugural women's hockey recruitment class.

Rachel Agerter, F, 2004 - One of the top scorers from a strong Gentry Academy program, Agerter had 16 goals and 42 points in 28 games this season. Fledgling programs struggle to score, so Agerter will enter with full opportunity to grab offensive zone starts and special team time.

Jadyn Weiser, G, 2004 - Whoever claims the Assumption net will certainly face a lot of rubber. Weiser emerges as one of the better goaltenders from Minnesota high school hockey last season posting a 2.34 GAA and .918 save percentage for North Wright County. The five-foot-nine netminder was a three-year starter at the high school level.

Alexis Hanrahan, F, 2005 - Another member of the powerhouse Gentry Academy program, Hanrahan had 17 goals and 32 points in 29 games last season. Perhaps Hanrahan and Agerter can form some immediate chemistry on a line for Assumption having experience playing together with Gentry.

Other first year recruits that have been announced include Ava McGaffigan, Caroline Lilley, Cassandra Johnson, Ella Rago, Jenna Chaplain, Katie Prive, Lilly Corso, Isabella DiReda, Alexis Kirkeby, Justina Valentina, Teagan Vaughan, Alexa Hanrahan, Katelyn Michals, and Delaney Williams.
