This Boston Bruins forward will look to impress against the Washington Capitals.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

The Boston Bruins are taking the ice tonight (Sept. 24) against the Washington Capitals for their second pre-season contest. This will be a game to pay attention to, as the Bruins have multiple players in their lineup who are fighting for NHL jobs.

Out of the bunch, one of the most notable players playing against the Capitals for Boston is professional tryout (PTO) addition Tyler Johnson.

Johnson did not play in the Bruins' pre-season contest against the New York Rangers on Sunday (Sept. 22), so this will be his first game action with Boston. With Johnson aiming to earn a contract for the season, he is a player who should be extra hungry tonight.

If Johnson stands out and puts together a strong performance, it would only help his chances of earning a contract for the season with the Bruins. The Bruins showed last year with Danton Heinen that they will reward PTO additions if they have good camps. Now, Johnson will look to be the next successful PTO recipient from the Bruins.

The Bruins have spots to fight for in their lineup, and Johnson's ability to play all three forward positions certainly helps his chances. However, he will need to impress big time from here in order to get a deal from Boston.

It will be fun to see how much of an impact Johnson makes against the Caps from here.
