The Boston Bruins have announced that forward Jeffrey Viel has been re-assigned to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Boston just recalled Viel from Providence on March 31. During his latest call-up to the NHL roster, the 28-year-old forward appeared in one game. In that contest, he threw one hit and dropped the gloves with Washington Capitals defenseman Dylan McIlrath.

Viel has appeared in five games this season with Boston, where he has zero points, 12 hits, 14 penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating. Down in the AHL with Providence, he has 12 goals, 34 points, 136 penalty minutes, and a plus-15 rating.

Viel signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Bruins this past off-season. In 54 career NHL games over four seasons split between the San Jose Sharks and Bruins, he has three goals, five points, 124 hits, 153 penalty minutes, and a minus-10 rating.

In addition to Viel being sent down to Providence, prospect Fraser Minten has been called up to the Bruins' roster.
