This is certainly a step in the right direction for Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand.

Jake DeBrusk and Charlie Coyle were The Hockey News picks for the mid-season Selke Trophy.

Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand had elbow, groin, and abdominal surgery during the offseason. With this, the veteran forward is still recovering.

However, Marchand took a notable step forward with his recovery, as he practiced with the Bruins today (Sept. 24) in a non-contact jersey.

While Marchand is still not 100% just yet, seeing him back on the ice in a non-contact jersey is certainly encouraging. He will now look to continue his recovery in the right direction.

The expectation is that Marchand will be ready to go by the start of the regular season. With Marchand still being a significant part of the Bruins' roster at this juncture of his career, they are naturally hoping things don't change on that front.
