Former Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand has been fantastic for the Florida Panthers this post-season, and this undoubtedly carried over to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Edmonton Oilers. Marchand scored the game-opening goal for the Panthers just 56 seconds into the first period and has made NHL history because of it.
According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, the 37-year-oldMarchand is now the oldest player in the history of the NHL to score at least one goal in each of his first three games of a Stanley Cup Final. The former Bruins captain beat Frank Mahovlich, who did so at 35 years old during the 1973 NHL playoffs with the Montreal Canadiens.
This is just the latest incredible achievement has had for the Panthers during this post-season. It is clear that Marchand is thriving with the Bruins' big-time rival, and he is a major reason why the Panthers have made it this far into the playoffs.
In 20 games this post-season, Marchand now has eight goals and 18 points. This includes scoring a short-handed goal and the double overtime winner against the Oilers in Game 2.
